The summer adventure begins...

So it's taken a little while to get back on here for an update... I guess we've been too busy! Last time we blogged we were still in France and since then we've added quite a few places to our "Been To" list... Here goes a brief rundown...

Firstly a week or so in the UK, [21st april - 8th may] buying a camper van, visiting family, and a trip around the Llyn Peninsular (no surf though :-[ )

[tues 8th/weds 9th may] Then a ferry back to the continent and a short drive from Calais into Belgium.

Two days in Belgium with a campsite in Galmaarden (a sampling of some fine Belgian beers included!) and a train trip into Brussels (more beer!). Left that night to drive into Germany (stopped on the border by the Rozzers - flashing lights and everything!!).

[fri 11th may] Spent our first German morning in Prum before driving to Trier for a walk around the historical centre and some bratwürst and chips. Found a nice overnight stop in a car park for "Wildpark Volklingen" - saw some deer and some stags, nice sight to wake up to out of the camper van window!

[sat 12th] Drove back into france and spent a day in Strasbourg city centre. Had lunch in a cafe and used the wifi to find our next campsite in Boofzheim, which we then drove to.

[sun 13th] Found the campsite to be quite nice so decided to stay another night. Went for a swim in the morning and then took a stroll into the village for a mini tasting session of local Alsace wines.

[mon 14th]. Drove over the Rhine on a mini car ferry back into Germany and popped into Freiburg for the afternoon and went to the tourist information to find out where is good to visit in south west Germany. That afternoon we drove into the Black Forest and had an overnight stop in a layby in the hills. At this point we started to realise that the van isn't so keen on hills! Poor old Agatha!

[tues 15th]. Drive to Titisee where the weather changed for the worse and we actually got snow! Still managed to enjoy a wall around the lake and a couple of German beers in a bar before heading to our "campsite" in a nearby carpark.

[weds 16th]. Still snowing so we abandoned our plan of going for a hike in the hills and went for coffee and black forest cake instead! Drove to the nearby town of Neustadt but the weather still wasn't too great so we camped by a railway for the night.

[thurs 17th]. Headed to another of the destinations highlighted in the Black Forest leaflet we had picked up - the Triberg Waterfalls. Had a lovely day there walking the nature trails and taking pictures at the falls. Had a beer in the town and waited to see the "Worlds Biggest Cuckoo clock" strike One. A bit of a disappointment really! We'd spotted a campsite on the roadmap near Steinach and so headed over there at the end of the afternoon. The place was quite nice and we enjoyed a fantastic shower before having a couple of pre-dinner bees and then a couple more in the evening.

[fri 18th] needed a cheap day to help keep the budget down so just parked up in a carpark near a river and a walking track in Steinach and spent the day playing chess and reading our books. The weather was a bit hit and miss anyway so that suited quite well. We couldn't stay overnight at the river so drove a little further and camped at a truckers layby in fußBach.

Okay... That's it for now - the update will be completed when I have another half hour spare and some wifi for uploading!!

Ciao for now!

November signing out.
